ZD7-2000 Submerged Arc Welder

Submerged Arc Welder

ZD7-2000 inverter multi-process arc welding power source. Design features - Compact footprint that saves valuable floor space - Penetration control advantage: deeper penetration without increasing heat input - Controllable penetration with repeatable parameter accuracy - Fast arc starting - One machine for submerged-arc welding, manual arc welding, carbon-arc gouging and electroslag welding - Good bead appearance and a wide range of matched applications - IP23S protection rating for improved safety - Heavy industrial rating: 100% duty cycle at 40 °C for severe operating conditions Applications Mainly for carbon steel and its alloys and stainless steel. Widely used in steel-structure buildings, bridges, locomotives and ships, pressure vessels, spiral-welded pipe and large forgings. Why 2000 A 2000 A is the top of the ZD7 range, built for the largest sections a fabrication shop handles: heavy pressure vessels, large forged and welded structures, and thick-wall components for hydropower and thermal power. It is normally installed as part of a fixed automatic welding station with flux handling and seam tracking.

Key Features

  • 2000 A output, the highest in the ZD7 submerged-arc range
  • DC submerged-arc output with deep, controllable penetration
  • Flux-covered arc eliminating spatter and arc glare
  • Uniform bead geometry with minimal finishing
  • Intended for fixed automatic stations with flux recovery and seam tracking
  • 100% duty cycle at 40 °C for the most severe industrial duty

Typical Applications

  • Wind tower longitudinal seams and flange welding
  • Penstocks and large-diameter pipe
  • Extra-heavy plate structures and heavy machinery
  • Multi-wire high-productivity automatic lines

Selection & Setup Notes

2000 A targets extra-heavy long seams such as wind towers and penstocks. Multi-wire setups need a separate source and feeder per wire — have our engineers assess the complete line (Contact).

Frequently Asked Questions

How thick can 2000 A weld?

Single wire typically covers 20–60 mm; multi-wire or strip cladding extends further, subject to procedure qualification.

Why is AC used in multi-wire welding?

Two DC wires interfere magnetically and cause arc blow, so the usual arrangement is a DC lead wire with an AC trail wire to stabilise the arcs.

How is the operator protected at high current?

SAW has no arc glare and low fume, but still needs ventilation and extraction plus noise protection, with electrical safety and e-stops to code.
