Arc Stud Welding Machine

Stud Welder

Inverter arc stud welding machine using digital soft-switching inverter technology, giving small size and low weight for easy movement on site. Automatic compensation for supply-voltage fluctuation keeps the weld consistent. Welding current and welding time are controlled by a microcontroller, so heat input is accurate and the first-piece pass rate is high. A gun-test function lets the operator check torch action before welding. Automatic and manual modes are selectable, which suits special applications such as multi-layer through-deck welding, and manual arc welding is also available. Current and time are shown on a clear digital display, and the machine protects itself against under-voltage, phase loss and over-temperature. Applications Mainly for welding studs in carbon steel and stainless steel. Widely used in building steel structures, bridges, rolling stock, shipbuilding, boilers and industrial furnaces.

Key Features

  • Inverter drawn-arc stud welding with deep fusion and high joint strength
  • Covers stud diameters from M6 to M24 and above
  • Suited to structural parts in plate of 3 mm and thicker
  • Stable welding process, little affected by supply fluctuation
  • Automatic compensation for supply-voltage fluctuation
  • Automatic and manual modes, including multi-layer through-deck welding
  • Ideal for shear connectors and insulation pins in batch installation

Typical Applications

  • Structural studs and shear connectors for composite floors
  • Bridge and building steel structures
  • Ship outfitting and insulation pin welding
  • Heavy machinery and pressure vessel attachments

Selection & Setup Notes

Drawn-arc stud welding is the standard for structural work: ample penetration, with joints usually stronger than the stud or parent metal. For volume site work, run visual and bend tests on first-off each shift. See the stud welder section.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is grinding required before welding?

Yes — remove rust, mill scale, coatings and oil, or you get lack of fusion and spatter. Grind zinc off galvanised parts locally.

How is a weld judged acceptable?

Visual inspection plus a 30° bend test or torque test; fracture in the parent metal counts as a pass.

What happens if the gun is tilted?

A tilted gun causes one-sided lack of fusion — the leading cause of site rework. Use a guide sleeve and keep plunge force steady.
